On 25 February, pro-Russian opposition Party of Regions leader, Viktor Yanukovych, was sworn in as Ukraine's new President, after he won the run-off from Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko by a marge of merely 3,45%. Until so far, Timoshenko has refused to accept the result and accused Yanukovych of massive fraud, but dropped her earlier filed law case. She still refuses to resign her position, which probably will mean that Yanukovych will submit a vote of no-confidence in Parliament that the Parliament is most likely to pass. In this case, early Parliamentary elections will be held and it will take still quite a while before the political stability in the country is restored. Ukraine is severely in need of political stability in order to receive its bailout from the IMF, to overcome the economic and financial crisis that has struck the country hard.
